Interviewing For A Job? Avoid These Blunders

Jan 22, 2013 -- 6:01am

On Monday the President started another 4 years on the job. How about you? Are you planning any career changes? If so, doing well in a job interview may be the deciding factor in whether you’re offered employment or not.

CareerBuilder recently surveyed about 2600 hiring managers to ask about the worst job interview blunders they’ve ever encountered.  Among the stand-outs:

» An interviewee who hugged the president of the company.

» A potential employee who emptied the office candy dish into her purse.

» One candidate called in sick to her current job – during the interview!

» Another asked if he could be paid under the table.

» One candidate wore a business suit with flip flops.

» An interviewee asked if the interviewer wanted to meet for a drink after.

» One candidate applied for an accounting job, yet said he was "bad at managing money."

» A potential employee ate food in the employee break room after the interview.

» One candidate used Dungeons and Dragons as an example of teamwork.

» Another candidate filed fingernails.
