I reached out to Gail Ann Pennetta Bass to find out more about a group I keep hearing a lot about, Loxahatchee Lost and Found Pets (LLAFP). Gail Ann is the founder of this amazing non profit which was started in 2012 and she filled me in... "It all came about because of Daisy, a missing pet from one of our community neighbors. Wanting to help find her, along with other missing pets and wanting to reunite with their owners, the group was established. As of today the group has over 3700 members and continues to grow everyday. To date approximately over 430 pets have been reunited with their owners as a result of the Acreage Community working together and posting on the group, some within a matter of minutes. Loxahatchee Adopatable and Rescued Pets is the sister Facebook group to our Loxahatchee Lost and Found Pets. This group was started about 8 months ago by one of our LLAFP administrators Sharon Vomero. This group was started when members were posting pets that needed to be re homed rather then lost or found. The administrators agreed both pages needs would be better served seperately. LAARP assists in rescuing and or re homing as many fur friends as possible with in our community and just beyond. LLARP members, that include several rescues, can post pets in need of homes or those members desiring to adopt, a new fur friend including cross posting where sharing of more urgent shelter pets is done on multiple pages in hopes of getting rescued and adopted. Both LLAFP and LAARP offer tips and advice relating to their specific needs by its knowledgeable members, including local vets, rescues, shelters and more. These pages not only served their intended purpose, but have also bought a community together for the love of animals."
After all, there is no place like home!
