No Snow Ball Benefiting Wayne Barton Study Center:

The Wayne Barton Study center came about when retired Boca Raton Police Officer, Wayne Barton, patrolled the Pearl City neighborhood in the 1980’s. He understood the challenges facing the area’s youth as he had grown up under very similar circumstances. To give the youth a “boost” he convinced the local housing authority to allow him to open a study center.

The purpose of the Wayne Barton Study Center, which is now a full center with over 7 class rooms, a basketball court, computer and science lab, library, and now has their own drum line, isto enhance the health, welfare and education of children in need in our community. WBSC believes that positive choices empower our youth into leading productive lives. High School graduation is the expectation of the Study Center; a college education is the goal. WBSC is intended to fill those needs that are not being met through the home or school. To support these efforts, WBSC has two small charter busses that transport children from their school to the center, unfortunately, the busses are too small to fit the amount of children that would like to be at the WBSC. Purchasing new charter busses will cost the center over 70,000 dollars. Help WBSC succeed in being an advocate for the children in our community.

The Wayne Barton Study Center provides numerous services to the local community including:
  • Since 1991 nearly 800 children have gone to summer camp in North Carolina and Maine as a result of hard work in school and clean living with the help of the Barton program.
  • In the last nine years Barton’s Boosters have served Thanksgiving turkeys and food baskets to more than 4000 people per year.
  • Over 800 kids a year for the last ten years have received Christmas gifts donated to Barton’s Boosters.
  • Over 300 adults have been hired as a result of Job Fairs coordinated by Wayne Barton and Barton’s Boosters.
  • More than 90 school-aged kids rely daily upon the Wayne Barton Study Center to better themselves and enrich their lives.
  • There are 68 kids in college now as a result of the Wayne Barton Study Center. In addition there are 12 students that will be attending a post secondary school this year.

The Wayne Barton Study Center is located at:
269 NE 14th Street, Boca Raton, Florida
